Orin Lophi Handbag Pricing App.

I was getting tired of calculating the price by hand for my handbags, given there were so many variations that could effect the ultimate total and desiring accuracy over laziness.

There are a few screen shot of the app. You can enter the dimensions, exterior material, interior material, hardware, and stitch technique. Bases on various cost and construction factors, the price in calculated and presented.

Simple, but what a time saver.

Inspiration and Discovery

We at Orin Lophi are constantly asking ourselves, “What does it mean to be human?”.  We often find ourselves referencing our latest discoveries or inspirations to shed light on this concept. Today we would like to share with our readers two things that are currently driving us to be the best humans we can.

Our workroom is a space of creativity and imagination and we do everything we can to make sure it feels like a utopia.  One way is to fill the space with sounds that make our souls soar. We love the work of Jonna Lee (iamamiwhoami) and her newly released sing/music video is making us scream. This collaboration with Comme des Garçons is visually appealing and the music is simply wonderful. Click this here to view the video. We hope you enjoy this find as much as we do.

We love Primatology at Orin Lophi and welcome any new insight into the lives of our distant relatives. When asking what it is to be human, expanding the view to all primates helps paint a fuller picture. Primates share more characteristics than most people know and common knowledge often seems to be regurgitated concepts that are extremely outdated. We find more and more that monkeys/apes express emotions like compassion, empathy, acceptance, and grief; characteristics normally only associated with humans. Our next inspiration is no exception. These monkeys lives are fascinating and touching.

Above is a juvenile snub-nosed monkeys of Shangri La; they live in a remote area and little is known about their lives. In 2015, PBS published a documentary of these breath-taking monkeys.

“Representing the meticulous and ambitious work of an all-Chinese film company led by award-winning filmmaker, Xi Zhinong, this spectacular film is the true story of a family of Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys living in the highest forests in the world. Only recently discovered, snub-nosed monkeys are hauntingly beautiful primates, different and gentler than others of their kind. Elfin-like, they seem both childlike and wise beyond their years. The family is led by a formidable fighter and his fighting force who guard a troop of 8-10 families. This is a unique monkey society, formed in response to the hardships of the Himalayas. But their survival depends not just upon strong defensive strategies; it also relies upon the cooperation and interdependence of them all.”

This documentary opened our eyes to something new and warmed our hearts. These monkeys inspired us to be kinder and more caring about others. Furthermore, the resilience of the abandoned juvenile inspires us to continue on. In part, his curiosity and exploration saved his life and our exploration/curiosity will save ours. To view the documentary click here, we hope you do, it is worth the every second.

Thank you Jonna Lee and Xi Zhinong, your work breaths life into ours. Feel free to share what inspires you in the comments or tag us on instagram.
